How to Import Your Emirates NBD Statement into Tika
How to Import Your Emirates NBD Statement into Tika
Emirates NBD is the most widely used bank for salaried professionals and expats in the UAE. This guide covers how to export your account statement and bring it into Tika in a few minutes.
This is a regional parser guide for UAE users. For the global import workflow, see the bank statement import feature and CSV import guide.
Step 1: Download your statement from Emirates NBD Online Banking
- Log in to Emirates NBD Online Banking.
- Go to Accounts → Account Statement from the left menu.
- Select your account (current or savings).
- Set the date range — up to three months per export works well.
- Click Download and choose PDF or Excel/CSV.
Tip: CSV exports produce cleaner data for import. If your account only offers PDF, Tika's parser handles that format too.
Step 2: Upload to Tika
- Open Tika and navigate to Accounts.
- Select or create your Emirates NBD account. Set the currency to AED.
- Tap Upload Statement and select the file you downloaded.
- Tika reads the statement and extracts transactions automatically.
Step 3: Review and categorize
Emirates NBD descriptions often include merchant codes alongside names. Tika normalizes these and suggests categories based on recognizable patterns:
- Salary credits are detected and tagged automatically.
- ATM withdrawals appear as cash transactions.
- International transfers are flagged for currency context.
You can edit any category by tapping the transaction. Corrections apply to similar future transactions in the same account.

Step 4: Confirm balances
After import, verify that the closing balance in Tika matches your Emirates NBD statement closing balance. Any mismatch indicates a missing transaction or an earlier import overlap — fix it before running monthly reports.
Working with AED and multi-currency
If you hold a multi-currency account or send regular remittances, Tika tracks AED balances as primary and records foreign-currency transactions with their converted values. See the UAE expats money management guide for a full multi-currency workflow.
