How to Import Your RAKBank Statement into Tika
How to Import Your RAKBank Statement into Tika
RAKBank (National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah) is a popular choice for professionals and small business owners across the UAE. This guide covers how to export your statement and import it into Tika.
This is a regional parser guide for UAE users. For the global import workflow, see the bank statement import feature and CSV import guide.
Step 1: Download your statement from RAKBank Online Banking
- Log in to RAKBank Online Banking.
- Navigate to Accounts → Account Statement.
- Select the account you want to export.
- Choose the date range — up to three months per export is recommended.
- Select Download as PDF or Download as Excel.
Tip: Excel (CSV) exports contain clean column data and import faster than PDF. Use PDF only if your account does not offer a spreadsheet export.
Step 2: Upload to Tika
- Open Tika and navigate to Accounts.
- Select or create your RAKBank account. Set the currency to AED.
- Tap Upload Statement and select the downloaded file.
- Tika parses the file and extracts each transaction row.
Step 3: Review and categorize
RAKBank transaction descriptions are generally clean and include merchant names. Tika matches these against its category rules:
- Salary transfers and standing orders are recognized automatically.
- Point-of-sale (POS) transactions include merchant names for accurate categorization.
- ATM and cash withdrawals appear as uncategorized cash entries to review manually.
Adjust any category by tapping the transaction. If you correct a recurring merchant, Tika applies the fix to future imports from the same account.

Step 4: Verify the closing balance
After import, confirm that the total in Tika matches the statement closing balance. A mismatch usually means a partial import, a duplicate row, or an overlap with an earlier import period. Resolve discrepancies before generating monthly reports or reconciling.
Using Tika for dual-currency tracking
RAKBank accounts are AED-primary. If you manage remittances or international transfers alongside local spending, Tika tracks AED as the primary currency while recording foreign-currency entries. See the UAE expats money management guide for a full dual-currency workflow.
